Valuary ("we", "the app") helps you identify antiques, vintage and collectible items and estimate their market value from photos you take. This policy explains what we handle and what we don't.
When you scan an item, your photos (up to four per item) are sent to our processing server to identify the item and estimate its value. To perform the identification, the photos are passed to our AI provider, Google, through the paid tier of its Gemini API. Google keeps prompts and responses for a limited period solely to detect and prevent abuse, and does not use them to improve or train its models.
To find similar listings, our server runs shopping and marketplace searches using words derived from the item (for example its type, maker and style) through search-results providers (Serper and SearchAPI). Those searches contain no information about you. To find visually similar listings, the first photo only may be published at a random, unguessable temporary address for up to 10 minutes so that Google Lens can analyse it; it is then deleted from that address.
Retention on our server: during our quality-validation period we keep scan photos for up to 30 days so we can check identification accuracy, after which they are automatically deleted. Analysis results are cached for up to 90 days so a repeated scan of the same photos returns instantly. We never share your photos with anyone else and never use them for advertising.
Valuary has no account or login. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, browsing history, or any personal identifiers. Your saved collection is stored only on your device, not on our servers.
To operate the service and prevent abuse, our server processes a randomly generated device identifier and standard request metadata (e.g. timestamp). This is not linked to your identity. Anonymous request logs are kept for up to 12 months.
To understand how the app is used and improve it, Valuary sends anonymous usage events to our own server (no third-party analytics SDKs): screens viewed, scans started and completed, paywall views, and purchase or trial events. Each event carries the same randomly generated device identifier and a per-launch session identifier — never your name, email, photos, or anything that identifies you personally. These events are not shared with anyone and are not used to track you across other apps or websites. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Anonymous product analytics. Analytics events are retained for up to 24 months.
Purchases are handled by Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We receive anonymous subscription status only. We never see or store your payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple.
Google: item identification via the paid tier of the Gemini API, and Google Lens visual search on the first photo as described above. Serper and SearchAPI: shopping, marketplace and visual-search lookups using item descriptions and the temporary photo address; they receive no personal data. RevenueCat: subscription management; receives an anonymous app-user identifier and purchase state from Apple, never your payment details or photos. Apple: processes all payments under its own privacy policy.
Scan photos: up to 30 days on our server, then deleted automatically. Cached analysis results: up to 90 days. Anonymous analytics events: up to 24 months. Anonymous request logs: up to 12 months. Your saved collection lives only on your device and is removed when you delete the app. To request deletion of the data tied to your device, email support@sidelabs.dev and we will help you identify and remove it.
Valuary is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Identifications and value ranges shown in the app are automated, photo-based estimates for general information only. They are not an appraisal, authentication, or investment advice. Actual value depends on condition, authenticity, provenance and the market.
